Patrick Wolfe, operator of Georgia-based Wilmington Island Medical, was sentenced to 24 months in prison and was ordered to pay $549,476 in restitution after pleading guilty to one count of conspiracy for taking part in a scheme to defraud Medicare telemedicine firms. Authorities said Wolfe conspired to pay kickbacks in exchange for obtaining signed orders from physicians and nurse practitioners, which were billed to Medicare through his company.
